বল মা কি আচারে, রামপ্রসাদ সেন

Following my previous post on the translation, here is the original Bengali poem by  Sri Ramprasad Sen.

Hi, nice article on Ramprasad. Since you mentioned his song here, I am curious to ask if you know ‘Amon din ki hobe Ma Tara’. I have been looking for its words in Hindi (not tye translation but written in either English or Hindi) so I can sing it myself as I don’t understand Bangla.

Would you be able to help me?

    Thank you.

Thank you. Yes, this is very famous in Bengal (the gaana.com version). Exemplifies Ramprasad’s true poetic genius – simple, yet profound. Guruji really admired him. Here’s the transliteration (I’ll attempt the translation eventually).

        Emon Din Ki Hobe Tara
        -Sri Ramprasad
        ======================

        [1]
Emon din ki hobe tara (2)
        Jobe tara, tara, tara bole
        Tara beye porbe dhara
Emon din ki hobe tara (2)

        Ridhi paddo uthbe phute,
        Moner adhar jabe chhute (2)
        Tokhon dhora tale porbo lute,
        Tara bole hobo sara (2)

Emon din ki hobe tara (2)

        Tajibo sab bhedabhed,
Muchhe jabe moner o khed (2)

        Ore, shato shato satya bed*
        Tara amar nirakara**
        shato shato satya bed
        Tara amar nirakara

Emon din ki hobe tara (2)

        Sri Ramprasade Rate,
        Ma biraje sarba ghate (2)
Ore, akhi andho dekho ma ke
        Timir e timiro hora
        akhi ondho dekho ma ke
        Timir e timiro hora
Emon din ki hobe tara (2)

        Repeat [1]
        ===========================
        *Veda
        **formless

I can never thank you enough for sharing the Bangla lyrics of this sweet song. I can understand some Sanskrit words like Nirakara but not the Bangla ones.

Singing this song in Bangla – as I read your reply – filled my heart with joy.

        Are you Yogananda’s disciple too?

Yes. Actually, thank you – for drawing me to this beautiful song, which I heard after a long time. My experience as I listened to it was same. Jai Guru.

Would you be able to send the words in English too…. I need to send it to a Gurubhai in America. We were talking about it a few months ago and he too was looking for the lyrics in Bangla and meaning in English. 😊

I know some of the lines in English as Master had created an English version when He went to America. It goes like this:

“Will that day oh come to me, ma? Will that day oh come to me, Ma?
When saying, Mother dear My eyes will flow tears
When saying, Mother dear, My eyes will flow tears
Widsom’s lotus will blossom forth Darkness will steal away
Heart’s lotus will blossom forth Darkness will steal away
Steal away, steal away, steal away Ma steal away
Steal away, steal away, steal away Ma steal away
A thousand Vedas do declare Divine Mother’s everywhere!
A thousand Vedas do declare Divine Mother’s everywhere!
Sri Ram Prasad says, Divine Mother everywhere stays
Sri Ram Prasad says, Divine Mother everywhere stays
Blind eyes, see the Ma, hiding everywhere
Blind eyes, see the Ma, hiding everywhere”

I hope it covers all the stanzas in the chant 😊😊

I have the CD – Cosmic Chants – by Master. Haven’t read the book. But I will. I also have one sung by Swami Kriyananda called Kriyananda Chants Yogananda. I have that one in my phone and I keep listening to the chants especially this one.
